
What to do before your detail
At New Shine, we’re often asked: “What should I do before you arrive?”
We’re all about making your detailing experience as smooth and stress-free as possible—from the moment we arrive to the final post-detail inspection.
This page is designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions and help you prepare for your appointment. If you have any specific concerns or unique requests, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always happy to help.
What should I do before you arrive?
Please remove any personal belongings from your vehicle( don't worry about trash etc.), including center consoles, glove boxes and trunk areas(trunk only if it is full of large boxes, crates). This allows us to safely access and thoroughly detail all surfaces.
Do you need access to water or power?
We come fully equipped with our own power source, but do require a water hookup if performing an exterior detail. No water hookup required for the interior. If your location has access to power, feel free to let us know, but it’s not required.
Can you detail my car if I’m not home?
Absolutely. As long as we have access to the vehicle and any needed arrangements are made in advance (like keys or parking), we’re good to go. Just let us know ahead of time.
What if it’s raining?
If the weather makes it impossible to perform your service safely or to our standards, we’ll reach out to reschedule at no extra cost. We also offer covered detailing options for certain vehicles—ask us for details.
How long will the detail take?
It depends on the service selected and the condition of the vehicle, but most details take between 2 to 4 hours. We’ll give you a time estimate when you book, and keep you updated if anything changes regarding arrival time.
Can I request something specific (e.g. pet hair, stain removal)?
Yes! We love custom requests. Just let us know when booking or send us a message beforehand so we can make sure we’re bringing the right tools and products.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Currently we take Venmo, Zelle, Cash & Card with a 2% fee for credit cards & a 5% discount for cash.
Can you remove stains, pet hair, or odors?
Yes! Stains, pet hair, and odors are common concerns, and we’re equipped to handle them. Results may vary depending on severity, but we always do our best to restore your vehicle to its freshest state.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens—we get it. Just give us at least 24 hours’ notice and we’ll be happy to reschedule you or cancel if need be. Late cancellations or "no-shows" more than twice may be subject to a fee depending on the situation.
What products do you use? Are they safe for my car?
We use only professional-grade, pH-balanced products meant for your vehicles surfaces. Everything we use is carefully selected to protect your paint, upholstery, and surfaces—no harsh chemicals or shortcuts. Typical products I have in stock are from Meguiars Professional line, Adams Polish's, Griot's Garage, Zep, The Chemical Guys.
